Project Proposal

A 3D representation of affinities between humans and non-humans in cyborg urbanization.  Ultimately the affinity resulting to "Cyborg Architecture

Justification and Relevance

If the neo-organicist city ever became possible, the world of architecture will forever be changed.  Architecture will no longer be about “form follows function” but rather “form sustaining function.”  As pointed out earlier, the human body has limitations with longevity.  Therefore, architecture must be re-structured to sustain the human body in order for neurological connections to be continuous.  As a result of this neurological connection, there is a possibility of affinities between humans and non-humans in the “real world.”  These affinities won’t be based on attraction but rather on efficiency and functionality.  As far as architecture is concerned, it will be transformed, which will “blur the distinction between architecture and furniture to create new kinds of interactive and ergonomic spaces (742, Gandy).”  The hybrid between architecture and furniture follows the cyborg concept of dualisms.  I would like to call this type of architecture, Cyber Architecture.

Project Inititation

For this project, I would like to create a 3D representation of the “blur distinction between architecture and furniture” or “Cyborg Architecture.”  I will be using the program to Google SketchUp to create a floor plan, section, elevation, and perspective of a typical Cyber Architectural Home.

In addition, I would like to illustrate how communities and machines are linked through an architectural computer-based network.  It will be a combination of the nineteenth-century organicist city and the neo-organicist city.
